Laylat al-Qadr (The Night of Decree)

“The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months.” (Quran 97:3). Tonight, we seek the most significant night in the history of existence—the night the Holy Quran first descended from the Preserved Tablet (Al-Lawh Al-Mahfuz) to the lowest heaven. On this night, the angels descend in waves, peace fills the earth until the break of dawn. A single prostration tonight carries the weight of a lifetime of worship. It is a time to bury our faces in our hands and ask the One who loves to pardon: Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibbul ‘afwa fa’fu ‘anna.
